We are the machine collectors Get em while they’re hot We are the machine collectors Just can’t get enough Communing with their rhythm Get up, stand up Strut your funky stuff You could get away, why delay? A holiday – every day If you upgrade are you a slave? Who owns who? We are the machine collectors Tick another off the list We are the machine collectors Get ‘em for your kids Thinking of your status Is it something that you read? If you don’t have a new one You might as well be dead Gaining ground, not a sound Shut em down, before you drown Have you found your feet are bound? Who owns who? We are the machine collectors They help to make you tough We are the machine collectors You can never have enough If it isn’t a machine yet It’s launching in a month I’m sure I saw it... somewhere... You could get away, why delay? A holiday – every day If you upgrade are you a slave? Who owns who? We are the machine collectors Just look beside your bed We are the machine collectors You can get one in your head Filling up our houses Bulging from our bags And what about the landfill You forgot you ever had? We are the machine collectors Get em while they’re hot We are the machine collectors Just can’t get enough Get up, stand up, give up

A scholar and a farm boy A camera and a lens If you’d like to print black and white I have some experience I’ll book a room said the scholar At the end of the corridor To ensure no-one lets in light We’ll have to lock the door Something developing in the dark room Red lights and fixative, such a heady mix Hands in the dark, work magic tricks Grains of silver fade to black Too late to turn back It fires me up said the scholar When art meets chemistry You can completely lose control There are no guarantees What first emerged from virgin white Was viewed with trepidation Breathing fast with racing hearts A grainy revelation Something developing in the dark room Red lights and fixative, are a heady mix Hands in the dark, work magic tricks Grains of silver fade to black Too late to turn back Down a nape slips a glistening bead Amonton’s Law contributing heat Something developing in the dark room Red lights and fixative, such a heady mix Hands in the dark, work magic tricks Grains of silver fade to black Too late to turn back

Feed me your tedium Watch me collect it I’ll make a machine with my bare hands That’ll harvest and protect it It’s the simplest request For an effortless donation That will rid you of restlessness And desolate vexation Calling all the bored With your ennui expertise Eventless daze, no will, no thrill Lacklustre is your tease Calling all the bored Watch me smile as I sup Cos I’ll have all your hours to fill Before my time is up Feed me your tedium Just watch me collect it I’ll make that machine with my bare hands To harvest and protect it I’m an alchemist with minutes I make molten gold from grey As fill up this gleaming cup With the hours you frittered away You know it’s good to share I could make you a deal It’ll suit your lifestyle It’ll help you to heal C’mon C’mon I’ll make you a deal Calling all the bored With your ennui expertise Eventless daze, no will, no thrill Lacklustre is your tease Calling all the bored Watch me smile as I sup Cos I’ll have all your hours to fill Before my time is up Calling all the bored With your ennui expertise Eventless daze, no will, no thrill Lacklustre is your tease Calling all the bored

Been strolling, ‘stead of rolling Dragging those heels Making a meal of those deals Making sure you line the same pockets Putting power in the same old sockets Can’t believe it flew right past you The time has come and gone When you really could have shone Now’s it’s late and you’re debating the gate When the horse is out dying from a lack of green pasture All the greedy Bs’ve got to pick it up Give it up, quick, go stick it pick it up All the lazy Cs got to pick it up Sit up real quick get it moving and pick it up Been wheezing, ‘stead of breathing Cos your air conditioned head Is sleeping in the wrong bed Get you out of your shiny glass tower Give your good self an icy cold shower Missed it when the house of cards fell down When the debt collectors screwed this town Only immune when there’s a moon in June Think again we saw through What you called a new tune All the real heel diggers gotta pick it up You could still be Mr Big if you just pick it up All the people scared of change gotta pick it up Just like U did B4 adapt again and pick it up All the feather nested pollies got to pick it up We can see your bag of lollies just pick it up All the old world thinkers got to pick it up Delete the obsolete, refit, and pick it up Been snoozin, ‘stead of movin I’ve seen knackered snails Go quicker than you’re movin There’s got to be pain before any gain Surely cutting down flying is better than frying Great species deep in faeces But we can get clean If we just ditch the routine All the greedy Bs’ve got to pick it up Give it up, quick, go stick it pick it up All the lazy Cs got to pick it up Sit up real quick get it moving and pick it up All the feather nested pollies got to pick it up We can see your bag of lollies just pick it up All the lame fence sitters got to pick it up You just gotta change or get an obit Tony pick it up All the real heel diggers gotta pick it up You could still be Mr Big if you just pick it up All those afraid of change gotta pick it up Just like U did before adapt again and pick it up

You’ve been running You’ve been running You’ve been running with your eyes shut Did you know that when you shut your eyes Everyone can see you? Offer me what you want I wouldn’t want to be you

It’s not for me to know Which part of you is stone But any fool can see A heart that’s not at home Protective family man So many future plans But those silver cufflinks hide A common sleight of hand Musketeers are go The alpha on the front line Swashbuckle your soul And victory will see you shine It’s not for me to stand On high or holy land I’m just saying that’s one hell Of a sebaceous gland Awarded and applauded Whose fault is it you bought it? See the light sabres glow Keep beating back the minus sign Watch the sharpshooter show And it will all be yours in time Musketeers are go The alpha on the front line Swashbuckle your soul And victory will see you shine Musketeers are go Here’s me whingeing on the sideline Swashbuckle your soul And victory will see you shine See the light sabres glow Keep beating back the minus sign Watch the sharpshooter show And you, my friend are the end of the line

I’m twisted in the sheets Like a corkscrew through the heat Round and round without a sound A sea of silence draws me down Day for night no night today Get your kicks on the lucid highway All the colours, all the pretty colours Calling a way to fall I’ve accounted for all the sheep I herded the words into a heap Round and round no scent was found I’ve beaten every thicket in the hunting ground Day for night no night today Get your kicks on the lucid highway All the colours, all the pretty colours Calling a way to fall Searching for the something To stop this endless worry ring Round and round so tightly bound Pull at the wool til your head’s unwound Day for night no night today Get your kicks on the lucid highway All the colours, all the pretty colours Calling a way to fall

It goes way back This train of thought This vein of nought Hear the future The wisdom of today Pythea has a way The woman with the purest ways She's taking the vapours, taking the vapours (It's an ethylene scene) It must be some malaise She's taking the vapours, taking the vapours (that old benzine routine) It's all a frenzy Beyond a doubt Written off and written out She just didn't know Her elbow from her ass They say it was a real gas The woman with the purest ways She's taking the vapours, taking the vapours (It's an ethylene scene) It must be some malaise She's taking the vapours, taking the vapours (that old benzine routine)

The air was saturated At the peak of Mount Hope Snow encapsulated The fire foretold Senses stimulated As the lies took hold You must have incubated A plan so cold Must have calculated The last known cent Before you detonated A life unspent As you played a silent game Watched the dream just fall away Nobody saw it coming, you took us all And the ones with the least Had the furthest to fall Underhand and understated The nine yards got sold Eyes were dilated At the pot of fool’s gold Should have interrogated Instead of counting on Maybe you can’t detect it When conscience is gone As you slowly snuffed the flame Sent the dream along it’s way Nobody saw it coming, you took us all And the ones with the least Had the furthest to fall Each promise you break Was never more than a paper plate Something in our eyes Blinked away the lies We must have been snowblind As the sun danced on in vain You made a mountain turn to clay Nobody saw it coming, you took us all But the ones with the least Had the furthest to fall With the sun glinting over The mountain peak A flaming white cloud With every word you speak Stamp your feet warm Now the path is clear Launie and Steve Meet Mark - the mutineer

Maybe it’s not too late To change your scene You could have a sure shot If your barrel is clean This could be your chance To make a break For the sunnier section Across the lake You could run for cover There’s a driver waiting Tapping at the wheel As the day is waning A glossy new page With more kissable lips That son of a gun Could sure sink some ships Looking down the range Maybe the chemistry changed You could see right through To another you Looking down the range Maybe the chemistry changed A hundred mile view In left turn white and full stop blue A pocketful of change Could buy you some time That’s riper and sweeter Than what’s on the old vine Forget what you said And everything you did It’s an unmade bed Once you lie in it Looking down the range Maybe the chemistry changed You could see right through To another you Looking down the range Maybe the chemistry changed A hundred mile view In left turn white and full stop blue

about

Fourth album from ollo (excluding remixes). It is the first that was conceived as a single body of work.

In part, the album is the result of a series of 'what if' questions: What if it's (nearly) all full blown songs this time? What if I don't use samples? What if I only use gear made before 1984? What if I use a vintage studio for all the effects? What if I use a live drummer? What if I experiment with two reel to reel tape machines?

The album was nominated for the Australian Music Prize (the AMPs).

Physical CD comes with 16 page booklet with one image for each track, featuring silver gelatin photograms made by Alex.
