Gold is The Colour

from Lost Songs by The Nethered

/

about

When a generation passes on you have no way of finding out more details and stories from your family. The thread is cut. All those burning questions must burn forever. This story is one I'd like to know more about, but I knew not to ask.

Mum told me once that in the early stages of World War Two Auntie was asked for her hand in marriage. He was heading off to fight. She said no, fearing he would never come back.

I can't imagine the pain of being right about something like that. She never married. Perhaps that's all I really need to know.

Here I wrote about Norfolk, linking it to her love and to France where he likely died. The places on earth she loved were Norfolk and France. I hope she would have liked the song.
